Went here for lunch and I ordered the shrimp basket with fries and cole slaw. The food came out hot and fresh and with a good amount of shrimp. I also ordered the cup of oysters which were good but I've had better. Maybe it was the breading on them.

This was my first visit. I wanted a seafood restaurant because I do not live near an area with fresh seafood. I ordered crab cake basket because I wanted only one crab cake. Outside was hard but inside was soft. Spicy but I liked it. Boyfriend ordered scrimp and it was so spicy that he dipped it in water and then at it. Service could be better. Most people were either buying crabs for takeout or eating at restaurant. I will not be returning. I called ahead and was encouraged to come before 6 PM because restaurant gets busy. It did get busy by 5:45 on a Friday.

Good food, sizable portions at a good price. All you can ask of a little spot like this. I have yet to go to this place when they're really busy and there's no where to sit. I usually get the Crab legs with Shrimp and have yet to be disappointed. The sides that come with it are alright, but I'm not going to this place for the sides. They have the all you can eat crabs, and they keep 'em coming.

I like this place a lot, but I do not LOVE this place. Granted, I was born and raised in Illinois and live in Kansas, so seafood is almost always good to me, even if the locals think it's only "okay". I was here a few years ago and like it a lot, and decided to come back. It was a Sunday evening but not too busy. The staff were very friendly, and my order came up within about 7 minutes or so (it was a to-go order). Since I really had not eaten all day, I got a ton of food...maybe too much? Definitely too much... What I got was the fried seafood platter. I don't normally like fried seafood, but I haven't had a heart attack in quite some time, so I decided that day would be a good day. It came with clams, oysters, scallops, white fish (I don't remember what type) and a crab cake, as well as a side of fries and cole slaw. I'll break each item down separately: Clams - I am not a big fried clam fan, and this feel exactly with my expectations, meaning they were just fine. They did overwhelm the whole dish with their smell. Oysters - I have never had fried oysters, and I must say...big fan! I love raw oysters, and this kept that enjoyment while adding a crispy shell of deliciousness and shame. Fried Scallops - Another item I have never had before (though I have of course had non-fried scallops before). While I love scallops, these were only OK. A lot of the moisture was gone, as was a lot of the flavor. They were fine, but I prefer just regular scallops, non-fried. White fish - Quite good, but probably my least favorite of everything. I could have done fine without it. Crab Cake - Very good, but far from the best I have had. You could choose a soft crab instead, and I kind of wish I would have. It was a solid crab cake, but not fantastic by any means Fries were good but standard. Cole slaw was quite tasty. Price was $21.99 plus tax, and could have easily been split. I will certainly return because (1) it's close to my hotel, and (2) it's solid, though by no means the best.

Saturday evening. 7pm. Place was a bit busy, and had only one server. My friend and I, however had a place to sit right away. We were told we could sit wherever we liked. We got our drinks quickly, and the food quickly as well. After we got our food, the server checked on us five minutes later, but then seemed to forget about us the rest of the time. Didn't check to see if we needed refills. Thought the service was ok, but not great. I got the fried seafood combo. Came with fried shrimp, oysters, clams and scallops. Nothing tasted good at all. The fried oysters didn't even taste a single bit like they had any oysters in them. Just tasted like a glob of batter. The meager 2 pieces of small fried shrimp were ok, but not great. The scallops were terrible. NOTHING tasted fresh at all. The clams were like rubber bands. The batter was not fried golden. Everything was a grey color. Maybe the oil was old. I don't know, but nothing on my plate left a seafood flavor in my mouth. The cold slaw was flavorless. Worst cold slaw I have eaten at any seafood restaurant. In my opinion, the cold slaw can make or break a seafood restaurant. Not impressed, and won't be going back. Not worth the price when the food tastes that bad.

Coming from a native Floridian this place isn't bad. Got a real mom n pop feel to it. They're not ever busy when I've gone so the service wasn't bad (however our waitress continued to chew gum while serving). The portion on my haddock basket was plenty for dinner and the prices are about 10-20$.

Very bad service. The restaurant was not even busy, only 3 tables before us. First' we seated ourselves to the table. Second the person who came after us got the food before us. Lastly, the waitress forgot our order and just realized it at 30 minute after we ordered. We waited for another 10 min, but we still didn't get the food. So we decide to leave. I will never come back here again.

I would love to have a chance to actually rate the food but after being ignored for over 20 minutes (of which we saw people walk in after us and be served) my wife and I just left. Been a long time since I have felt a business was so busy that it did not need my business. If there are a lot of people there I recommend looking elsewhere or you might starve to death.

This is the best little mom and pops seafood in the area! I think the people who said there was bad service either caught them at a terribly busy time (happens to everyone at every job) or they are just use to fine dining. They are all very nice and personal here and you just have to use common sense when ordering. The food is quick and amazing, we eat here many many many times and have never had a problem! Sometimes the steamed oysters arnt steamed long enough but thats not exactly a reason to knock them LOL. I think its worth a try if your in the area, everyone has there own opinion, so make your own :)

Visited this place repeatedly throughout two straight weeks and couldn't stay away. We were hesitant to step in at first because it looked empty, but I was glad I gave it a chance. People complain about the service, but it's hard to knock on the lady who works there. The first time we stepped in, she was a little slow to cater to us. The second time we visited, she lit up and recognized us and hooked us up with extra items because she knew how much we were loving the food. I tried as much as I could during the two weeks, and everything was delicious. The soft shell crab sandwich, fried catfish, crab balls, jalepeno fritters w/ honey, the coleslaw, the sweet tea - were all worth every penny. The steamed oysters were a bit small and the fried shrimp was average. The fried oysters were better than the steamed oysters. I didn't get a chance to try any of the crab claws, but the crab balls were amazing for the lunch price. I highly recommend this as a lunch spot if you're working in the area.

This place doesn't look like much and I'm not a seafood expert. But they have a good shrimp basket for 10 bucks. Everything comes out hot. Not even remotely fancy but good service and decent food. That works for me.

Disappointed! My better half and I went here after hearing a few good reviews from friends. I ordered the broiled seafood platter and he ordered the fried seafood platter. He was supposed to get a soft shell crab but the cook made a mistake and gave him a crab cake. The server made it right so that was fine. It happens. He was not happy with his food. The breading on the seafood was bland. Once the soft shell crab got to the table, it was soggy and dripping with grease. The hush puppies appeared to be the frozen kind and were very dry. My haddock was extremely dry, rubbery an flavorless, the scallops were small, rubbery, and bland, the shrimp were tiny and the deviled crab didn't have a pleasant taste- it was very fishy. The cole slaw did not taste or look homemade and came in a little sample cup you would use for condiments. The only things that were somewhat good were the onion rings and the jalapeño hush puppies we ordered as an appetizer (which are different than their regular hush puppies). The waitress was friendly.

Have taken out here twice, the first time I ordered #2 Male Crabs for 15$ a dozen and was quite pleased. They were heavily seasoned as requested and steaming hot and fresh. Very tasty and enjoyable. In fact so much so, that we went again and ordered more the next day... only they were out of #2's so we bought the #1. There was not much diffference in size from the previous crab, (in fact some were as small or smaller) and the season was not as heavily seasoned as requested as well as mildy warm as if they had been sitting and I ordered this batch in house and waited... unlike the previous order that had been called in. So.. not as good the second time, but liked it the first time so much that we will give it another shot.

Used to be good. Last 2 times I went I was not satisfied with service or food. The first time I went their was back about 2004. Had great crabs. The last two times have not been the same. Got oysters with mud still on the shells and small light expensive crabs. I switch entirely to up north 235.

I was in the mood for all you can eat Seafood. ..so after hearing about this place I decided to take my family. After walking in. ..I kinda wanted to walk right back out because it didn't look clean...but I came for crabs so no big deal. I ordered a dozen of crabs....my daughter ordered the fried shrimp and scallop platter w/fries....my husband ordered a crab cake and broiled scallops. And for appetizers we ordered Snow Crab Legs and hush puppies. The broiled scallops were horrible! ...small with no flavor. My husband had to spit one out in his napkin because something hard was inside of it...not sure what that was about. My daughter ate a couple of shrimp and one scallop...she just said basically was not good. My crabs were ok but not seasoned well. My bill was $153.67 for my family of 5. ...Normally I wouldn't mind...but there was a lot of food left on the table because they didn't eat it....and definitely did not take it home. ..so money waisted! And needless to say. ...my family let me have it on the way home...smh...

The 411: this is a disappointing place that promised fresh seafood, but offered a menu of only fried and boring food that is presumed to have been frozen prior to cooking. We ordered their oyster special as an appetizer, and I couldn't even taste the oyster. It was an oyster from a jar, smothered in excess bread crumbs and bacon and other fillers. Really heavy, and hardly seafood. I got a platter for dinner, all of which came with 4 choices from a bunch of options. Almost every option for the platter was fried. I ordered steamed shrimp, seared scallops, fries and hush puppies. My friends also got crab balls and crab cakes, as well as a fried fish fillet. The crab cake was just a larger version of the crab balls. Both had a substantial amount of filler and not much crab flavor. The shrimp I ordered (steamed) came out fried. I regret not sending it back. My "seared" scallops looked like they were cooked on low heat in butter. No caramelization. They gave me 4, and they were not much larger than the diameter of a quarter. On top of all that, it's expensive. The platter of fried blah was a little over $20. Not a good deal. Bottom line: this ain't the place for fresh seafood. I'm not sure where you can get good seafood 'round these parts, but pat's ain't that place.

First time here. Crab and shrimp was great. Crab was streaming and meaty. Potato salad was great. Will return.

I've visited Captain Pat quite a few times and I've never been disappointed with the taste of the food. The fish is delicious and the customer service is great. It's a little pricey but, I do not think there are many choices for really good seafood. I find that to be slightly ironic being so close to the Chesapeake...LOL

This is my third visit and all my dining experiences here at this simple restaurant have been very good. I came with my husband two other times in the past for a dozen crabs with hush puppies, fries, green beans, etc. They were fairly big & so good! It was $40 a dozen. Today on a Wednesday they are on special at $20 all-u-can-eat with two sides-- and not for take-out so eat all of your food here. The woman who served me has been the same person who has served on my other visits. She is very good and can handle the whole restaurant by herself with quite ease. I like this place. It's not fancy, but then again, it's a crab place. The food has been consistently good and the specials are nice too.

Stopped by Captain Pats on 07/30/2015 while on a group vacation to get our requisite fix on MD blue crabs before we left. The staff couldn't have been any nicer in helping us non Marylander's narrow down what type of crabs we wanted. We took the steamed crab's to-go and when we arrived back our hotel we dove in. The crabs were perfectly steamed and well-seasoned with the house crab seasoning (luckily, we picked up a few bags of seasoning to take home). We did however order far too much, but we remedied that problem quickly with a couple coolers and a lot of ice. We will definitely be stopping there next time we're in town!

I've had good experiences here, looking forward to going back. I will say this is a small hole in the wall kind of place, so don't expect anything fancy. We go for the all you can eat feast because they are the best for steamed crab legs! Yes it's a lot of fried food and some of it is just run of the mill fried food. The hush puppies and steamed shrimp are good! We prefer to get the steamed stuff first so we don't fill up on fried stuff. Service is decent, last time we went our waitress was great!

My boyfriend and I went out with another couple who have a small child to this place on a Saturday night. Most places are busy at this time, but not here! The experience started out awkward. We weren't sure if we should wait to be seated or just pick a table... no one greeted us for a while, so we just sat ourselves and got a high chair for the little one. It took them a few minutes to get to us, even though there were just two other occupied tables. When our server did get there, she didn't say a word. In fact, WE said hello to HER! It was weird, for sure! She made it obvious that she didn't want to be there. (either that, or she just did not like us from the get-go...) She brought our drinks and took our order, again, not showing us any sort of kindness. And, I gotta say, I've never seen a server not even acknowledge a cute baby at their table and/or ask if the litte one needed anything... (Like I said, one of the coldest servers I've ever experienced) Once our order was taken, and she went to put it in, that was the last we saw of her. I didn't even see her walking around. It was strange. It took our food a while to come out, but the girl who brought that was very sweet. We were not checked on until our plates were empty and it was the sweet girl again. She bused our table to give us some room and she gave us our check. I'm not sure who we tipped, the rude one or the sweet one. Either way, the experience was sub-par. (wow, I've not even talked about the food yet!) I got a crab cake sandwich and it was LITERALLY an okay crab cake on a plain bun. That's it! The fries were crisp and hot. The hush puppies were excellent. But I would not recommend the crab cake sandwich. Way too plain! Even if the food was AMAZING, I don't know if I would ever go back. The service was THAT bad. If they have carryout, I would recommend going that route because the food order was accurate and it tasted okay.

Nothing special, but my food was okay. The prices are VERY reasonable. The people seem nice. I will be back, but only for quick carryout lunch food... I ordered the steamed shrimp special to go, which included a half pound of shrimp, 3 or 4 hushpuppies, french fries, and coleslaw. I am from Maryland so I am use to large steamed shrimp being seasoned very well. The 'small' shrimp was just 'okay'. I didn't see or taste much seasoning. Next time, I will ask for extra old bay seasoning. The hushpuppies were good. The fries were just 'okay'. Nothing special... and yes I have had some pretty delicious fries at small local seafood restaurants. These were just okay. I did not eat the cole slaw. This is not a nice looking restaurant on the inside... meaning it's not a place to have dinner with someone you want to impress. But it is okay for a quick bite to eat for lunch.
